We laughed at Stuart Smalley and his positive affirmation of “I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like me.”  That is until Neuroscience and Cognitive Psychology research showed that Stuart was not that off base on how to create a successful, happy and productive life.

Every day you are physically wiring the person you will become tomorrow.

The voice that you hear in your head constantly telling you positive or negative stories about yourself and everyone around you is looking to reaffirm past events that have already created strong neural networks from the past.  That portion of your brain is biased, because it is pulling from all your past experiences to create your story of what is happening right now.  It isn’t letting that story unfold as you work towards creating a meaningful, happy and fulfilled life.

Be mindful of what beliefs and stories you let that voice tell you.  It is creating who you will be in the future.
