The truth is that you need to find out which type of job is right for you. Should you be part of corporate America, take on the challenge of entrepreneurship or can you do both? I’ll give you things to think about that will help you learn more about yourself and help you make these decisions. Being an entrepreneur seems to be the big thing to do. There are a lot of people changing the world that way but climbing the corporate ladder can make you very fulfilled as well. Today we’ll talk about how success is dependent upon you.
As I discuss the differences between the two I want to start by saying that there is a lot of generalization here. Everyone’s experiences are different. Some of these pros and cons may exist on both sides. I have lived both lives so I’m using my own life experiences and those of my clients as reference points.
Let’s compare a few things that will make a huge impact on your choice of career.
Work/life balance: If you’re thinking of switching from corporate America to an entrepreneurial journey there are a number of questions you need to ask yourself to figure out which lifestyle is right for you.
Effect of failure: Entrepreneurial failures can have a more devastating economical effect than if you’re part of a corporate company.
Stress: How do you handle it? The ill effects of stress are different and vary depending on which type of organization you are part of.
The benefits of each career lifestyle can be huge but they are very different and you need to figure out which type will be best for you.
ACTION ASSIGNMENT: Go over the questions I ask you in this episode and think over what lifestyle would be most beneficial to your career goals. Email me if you have any questions or career stories you’d like to share.
