STUFF WE LEARN IN THIS EPISODE
Loneliness can actually be deadly. Insufficient social connection is a large factor in our health. Having people you can confide in and lean on for social support helps you fight off downturns in your health.
Even people with friends and family can feel lonely. It is a perpetual state depending on the quality of a person’s relationships rather than the number. Cognitive decline and dementia are also linked to loneliness. Social pain appears in the brain in the same place as physical pain. Tylenol can actually help loneliness! (Research is in the early stages)
More Americans are living alone than ever before, causing us to be isolated ,especially as we age. Being married doesn’t even protect you from loneliness either. We all get lonely sometimes and chronic loneliness is something to pay attention to as you age. Joining any type of social group will help, try new things, learn new things!
Teenagers are also plagued by loneliness despite their health. The data is showing a significant increase in loneliness in the teenage years.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
“I was recently fired from a contractor after nearly 15 years. I was hired by another contractor about a year later. I was fired on a technicality within a year. I lost my security clearanc,e but was able to regain it. What are some of your suggestions on possibly getting my job back. The firing was non-confrontational and I would love to get back to doing what I truly enjoyed and have respect for the administrators. They have strong ethics and values that I am proud to have myself.“ -Anonymous
HR most likely will not talk to you. Contact your manager and ask if you have a chance of coming back. Do this in person if possible. You need a yes or no to see what your options are and if you need to take a different direction.
