EPISODE 277 During times of stress, change and increased workload our ability to control our thinking and behavior rapidly declines. To adapt, succeed, and thrive requires the development of mental toughness. This week Dr. Bray shares how to develop mental toughness, no matter what your job.
CONTENT WE LEARN IN THIS EPISODE
We need to be aware of and in control of our emotions during stressful situations, it is paramount. Out of control thoughts and feelings lead to reactive, non-logical decisions. We then become paralyzed with indecision, instead of remaining calm and cool. The core of mental toughness is the ability to perceive reality clearly without unnecessary emotional turmoil. It is the ability to diminish cognitive distortions.
How to Become Mentally Tough:
No one is born with Mental Toughness. It is a skill that needs to be cultivated and developed consistently over time. Mental toughness is not only for extreme situations, but also plays a role in day to day living and work as well.
